Blue Mighty Morphin' Power Ranger - Blue Ninja Ranger

billy-blueoutline.jpg

Billy was one of the original five Power Rangers, which in itself guaranteed his place in history, but he made himself a legend in his own right.

Billy starts his career as a ranger as the token geek of the team, unbelievably smart and socially challenged. He speaks lingo few people can understand and doesn't have any hobbies that don't include computers and science. He starts up a karate class but quits because he can't do it.

He is very insecure about himself and it shows through clearly, making him an easy target for people like Bulk and Skull, who torment him often in the beginning. The other rangers defend him loyally, but eventually Billy takes up karate again and begins to stand up for himself some.

Billy is often the one to get the rangers out of trouble, always having the answers and finding the solutions, even when Alpha and Zordon can't. He is invaluable outside of being a ranger, perhaps even moreso that way, and seems to enjoy being the resident genius.

Throughout his time as a ranger, Billy grows and matures more than most of the others. He starts a shy, self-conscious "nerd", though surprisingly popular with the ladies (I think the crush-count is 6 . . .) but slowly he does gain confidence in himself and becomes much more.

Billy stays on the team for the longest of the original five, seeing the first three leave, and then Kimberly, and even Aisha. Then it is his turn. When they lose their powers and the Command Center is destroyed, there are only five Zeo crystals. Though his is rightfully his, Billy steps down for the good of the team and gives it to Tanya, the new member of the team.

Though a ranger no more, he stays on the team, working in the Power Chamber and pretty much taking the place of Zordon and Alpha. He feels bad about not being a ranger anymore and wishes he could still help them like before, but he never once regrets giving up his place.

He fades into the background of the series slowly, and eventually he decides to leave. He goes to Aquitar with an Aquitian named Cestria, whom he has developed quite an affection for. We get nothing but a garbled and dubbed goodbye from the former blue ranger, and he is never seen again.

David Harold Yost

David was born on January 7th, 1971 in Council Bluffs Iowa. He moved around a lot as a child and competed in many gymnastics competitions, winning the state championships for both Montana and Iowa.

He moved to California with the hopes of becoming an actor, and auditioned for Power Rangers only two weeks after he arrived. He won the role of Billy Cranston, the blue Power Ranger. He appeared in almost 200 episodes, and starred in the movie.

In 1995, still a regular on Power Rangers, he also got a role in the movie "Ladykiller".

In 1996 his character Billy was written down on the show, and David was pushed to the background. There were some conflicts on the set as he fought their decisions, and they lowered his pay, and David eventually walked off, feeling that everyone wanted that anyway.

Since then he's appeared in and produced a few TV shows and movies, but nothing much.
